The bathroom is one of the most important areas to keep clean as not doing so can result in harmful bacteria that can cause stomach cramps and excessive vomiting.
Each time we use the bathroom and flush the toilet we pick up a form of bacteria. If we do not wash our hands every time we have used the toilet facilities then every surface we touch risks getting this bacteria upon it and therefore anyone who touches door handles or surfaces that it is on and then rubs their eyes or put their fingers in their mouths which children do often, risk ill health.
It is important to use bleaching products within your bathroom to kill off the harmful bacteria. Another way to stop the spread of bacteria is to ensure the toilet lid is down when you flush as water reticules can erupt onto surfaces nearby and even more concerning could get on your toothbrush.
To clean the surfaces in the bathroom use a bleached cloth or hygienic wipe. The bath and sink can be effectively cleaned by using a cream cleaner. Rinse any bits out of the bath first and then squirt the cream cleaner around the bath. Wet a scouring pad and gently scour the cream cleaner around the bath as this will get rid of lime scale. Rinse the bath/sink thoroughly with warm water ensuring that you remove it all as it can leave behind a powdery residue if left. Cream cleaner is also a great product to clean the taps as it will leave them with a sparkling shine.
To clean the toilet thoroughly use either a cloth that contains bleach, cleaning the outside of the toilet first and then the inside, disposing of the cloth afterwards or even better use hygienic toilet wipes as these can be disposed of down the toilet after use avoiding the spread of germs.
Using surgical gloves clean the inside of the toilet by hand using a wipe or a bleached cloth ensuring you get into all the crevices of the toilet. It is inadvisable to use a toilet brush as these then linger in the bathroom covered with bacteria and faeces and are something that I, personally would never allow in my house. After cleaning the inside flush the chain to allow the hygienic wipes etc to flush away and then apply a bleach such as toilet duck. This not only kills germs but also provides a wonderful scent. After this apply normal household bleach into the base of the toilet and leave both for around two hours if possible before flushing.
If you have bath mats or a toilet mat then ensure these are washed in boiling hot water at least once per week as these are an ideal breeding ground for germs. When mopping ensure that you use a good disinfectant with hot kettle water and clean the mop thoroughly afterwards. Leaving the mop to soak in a clean bucket of hot water, washing up liquid and bleach after use will keep it germ free.
